Tank
Heaters
from Industrial Mechanical Specialties Ltd.
IMS tank heaters
are heavy duty construction extended surface units for meeting
the demands of industrial installations. These heaters are all
welded construction using schedule 40 pipe and .036" thick
minimum spiral wrapped fins. Integral mounting bases are provided
and all heaters are hydrostatic tested prior to shipment.
Why use
finned piper heaters?
By using finned
pipe tank heaters, we can achieve up to 10 times the heat transfer
surface compared to using bare pipe. This means fewer pipes are
required resulting in a more compact, lighter package. Fewer pipes
means less installation cost and reduced cleaning and maintenance
costs.
By using extended
fin surfaces, the heat from inside the pipe is spread over a greater
area resulting in lower metal or skin temperatures. This reduces
the chance of fouling due to coking or carbonization reducing
corrosion and scaling.
Our tank heaters
are designed for horizontal installation. Our spiral wrapped fins
provided a vertical heat transfer surface which increases the
natural convection currents around the heater. This creates a
fluid movement over the fins which increase the heat transfer.
Tank heaters
can be custom built to suit your application. The following pages
show some typical heater types and surface areas based on using
1 ¼ pipe and carbon steel fins. Other sizes and materials
are available.
